My name is Araceli, and I am from Oaxaca, México. I immigrated to the United States when I was 18 years old in search of the American dream. I have always worked in restaurants, specifically as a barista. Right now, my dream is to have my own business that I can run with my family.
The Latine community in Colorado is growing because the town I live in has many opportunities, and it also has many events and activities for families. I wish that the community would try to include us more. Even though I feel included, I think that those who recently arrived have a hard time feeling like they belong in the Roaring Fork Valley community. I wish that they make more things bilingual, such as events and brochures because many in the community do not speak English. I also would like to help more in the community and wish that those opportunities were easier to find.
I am grateful to God for the opportunity to be in this country, for my good health, and my children. Every day I wake up and I feel blessed to be in a place in which I can accomplish my goals.
I wish that people knew that every day, immigrants leave our homes to do our jobs that feed our families. These jobs also feed others as well. I want people to know that people who work in the food industry have very important jobs.

Many migrant women workers, including farmworkers, face workplace conditions that worsen mental health, such as harassment in the workplace, wage theft and lack of paid family leave. People who migrate for work, such as those employed in agriculture, face a variety of challenges with accessing mental health care. Join Justice for Migrant Women as we call on our elected leaders to expand access to mental health resources for all people employed in agriculture.
